I love Neon Genesis Evangelion , and Transformers are obviously awesome. What happens when you combine the two? An awesome repaint of the Takara Tomy Masterpiece MP-10 Optimus Prime done up like EVA Unit-01.
Planet Iacon found the insert pictured above in a Japanese hobby magazine that depicts what the toy could look like, but as of right now nothing's been confirmed. The text itself on the advert is vague, translated by Anime News Network as follows:
"The Angels are invading. Breaking a long silence, the mysterious life-forms known as the Angels suddenly appear. The weapons the UN forces gather together in retaliation can't even scratch them. In the end, they turn to the secret agency, NERV, to manage the anti-Angel strategy.
With Neo-Tokyo 3 in their sights, the Angels slowly advance upon the city...but suddenly a spaceship comes hurtling down from the sky above the Angels: the Sky Lynx! Out of the ship emerges warriors of the far-off planet Cybertron. They've come to investigate after noticing an unusual energy reading.
"We can't let a disaster like the Second Impact occur on this planet." "What?! What are these monsters?!"
The shocked Cybertron convoy sets its sights on an enemy much bigger than themselves."
Obviously, this would be one exciting crossover. I'd like to see even more repaints if it happened to be a Thing with a capital T, like Asuka's Unit-02. Actually, a whole host of Evangelion/Transformers crossovers would be all sorts of exciting. We'll let you know more as the story develops and we have more than just a magazine scan to go on.
