The Dose: UNLIMITS

Over the last month you've probably caught wind of my dissatisfaction of the recent rock ballads coming out from major artists. Huge tracks with horrible muzak grade songs seem to be coming from every direction lately, and I was getting a bit scared at what my summertime music selection was going to look like. Luckily, Japan's rock bands aren't going to let the top 10 acts ruin things, and are set to deliver.

It's been a while since we've heard from the amazing Japanese rock band, UNLIMITS, but I'm happy to report they are sounding sweet as ever. Since contributing songs to both Bleach and Naruto Shippuden, the bands been n my radar with their sweet, pop rock sounds. Their newest track Lily is refined, yet retains a pure live rock sound, not feeling over produced or forced.

The vocals provided by guitarist Yoko Shimuzu and drummer Yoko Gunjima are just delightful, maintaining fragility without getting overly poppy. They released a new album last week, which I haven't a chance to grab yet, but you be sure will be an upcoming purchase. I'm glad to see the summertime rock bands starting to make their much needed appearance.
