Hyrule Warriors releases in Japan this summer

Back when we first found out about Hyrule Warriors , there was much excitement in the collective pantaloons of Japanator. I mean, combining The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors seems like a match made in gaming heaven. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much news since the initial reveal.

Thanks to a Tecmo Koei financial document found by Siliconera, we at least have a time range for the Japanese release: Summer 2014. Nothing more specific was revealed, but as we're already at the beginning of May, I'd guess we'll be seeing it hit sometime before August. No word on any sort of US release, but if we find out more we'll let you know.

I'm not quite sure how to feel about Hyrule Warriors. On paper, it's a bloody great idea. There's plenty of possible scenarios to have Link run around and slaughter hundreds upon hundreds of foes. However, will he be the only playable character? The Dynasty Warrior games in their various incarnations have bunches of different folk that you can control to unleash destruction, but what about here in Hyrule Warriors? Besides Link, I can think of maybe Zelda, Sheik and...that's it. I'm spent.

Who else would you like to see wrecking evil face?
