A Daily Dose of Anime Openings: 80's Week

Alright kids, time to load up on the hairspray, neon bracelets, and your favorite denim jacket. We are going back to the 80's! Being a child of the 80's the anime of the time left a huge impression on me, that I really didn't even recognize until much later in my fandom. This week your favorite Japanator Editors give you a peak into some of their favorite anime openings that have been building blocks to their current obsession. If you aren't ready for an intense trip down memory lane, you may want to avoid this post.

Dae Lee - Chibi Maruko-chan - Odoru Ponpokorin - B.B. Queens.

"I found out about Chibi Maruko-chan when I was looking for easily digestible programs to supplement my Japanese language learning a number of years ago. The movie was my introduction to the series and this opening musical number charmed me to no end. The insanely catchy chorus and quirky eccentric flourishes compliment the equally bizarre but endearing imagery, which are accented with some great animation to accompany the beat. Operatic fish, cauldron genies, a dancing Thomas Edison painting and the entire Chibi cast pull out all the stops for this memorable opening."
