Kicking off your work week are the veteran Tokyo rockers winnie. The band's been going strong since forming in 2002, finally releasing a well received full length album in 2009. They are back with a really fresh new rock tune, Lightning Strikes. It's got some really nice poppy elements, but stays nice and raw --with lead woman lori's guitar work and vocals staying in the foreground.
It's strange that I get excited about rock music that's not over produced finding its way into Japan's Oricon charts, but I'm still pleased to see bands that have a DIY element to them succeed. A perfect song to welcome the Fall. You can find Lightning Strikes on their new album Nostalgic Evolution.
