Revealing that a seemingly-deceased character evaded death by limbo-ing under the bullet has to be one of the bigger cop-outs I’ve run into. However, the Stardust Crusaders putting that into an elaborate, super-mean practical joke at Polnareff’s expense truly makes up for everything. We feel just as betrayed as he does, don’t we?
I mean, think about the details. They went as far as to have Avdol put baking soda into his hair to look old! The treasure chest Polnareff wished for is actually the consolation prize he gets through suffering such MOST EXTREME CHALLENGE-worthy humiliation.

(Speaking of which, what happened to that chest? Cameo never revealed any horrible catch to it, did he? Are we supposed to just assume that it was made of clay, too).
Araki obviously relishes in pranks. Why else would we get a whole scene centered on our heroes dropping random shit down the bad guy’s blow hole? Of course, with that said, the escalation to these two hosses pissing down that blow hole was… bizarre. Sure, the show keeps living up to its name, but I chortled over how Avdol presented this was, like, a basic expression of male bonding. You know, it’s just something dudes do.
On another note, would any of you more learned lunatics happen to know the actor who voiced our evil Stand this week? A big part of why the show works for me is that Stands and Stand Users are always the most loathsome rat bastards. Something about this guy’s guttural intonation made him even that much more delightfully menacing, so I’m very curious now if I’ve maybe heard his voice somewhere else.
