Sword crafted by legendary swordsmith Masamune has been discovered

If you're anything like me, the sheer mention of traditional Japanese steel gets you excited in ways you dare not mention publicly, especially if you want to stay off of government watch lists, and be able to freely travel without the NSA following you around. If you know anything about Japanese swords, you sure know of Goro Nyudo Masamune, known best just as Masamune. He is considered by many to be the finest swordsmith that has ever lived, with his name carrying on as legend.

If you don't know much about the swordmaker, you probably know Final Fantasy VII's character Sephiroth's sword, and League of Legends players will probably be a bit familiar with the name. The sword was brought to the Kyoto National Museum last year, and finally scholars have positively identified it as an authentic Masamune sword. It's actually the first one to be confirmed in over 150 years.

Apparently Masamune did not sign his pieces, making the identification of them very difficult. There's no word wether this particular sword will be on display soon, but if you ever have a chance, I recommend that you check out the Masamune sword that is currently being displayed in Missouri, at the Harry S. Truman Library.
