It's hard to say, "I can't see her in the role" after you look at the side-by-side collage above, isn't it?
Joblo's run a rumor out that Scarlett Johansson's been offered $10 million to take on the iconic role of Motoko Kusanagi in the long-gestating GHOST IN THE SHELL Hollywood remake (character name likely to be changed). Of all the 'surprise' casting announcements in recent memory, this one actually makes the most sense. Dare we say, it's a no-brainer.
== TEASER ==
The summer's sleeper hit LUCY was more of an anime movie than the recent KITE remake and, as illustrated above, Johansson is already quite well known for playing pistol-packing ass-kickers in catsuit. You do wonder if the number of Hollywood 'tributes' to Motoko (Trinity, Underworld, et al) have already covered this ground on screen, but that never stopped anybody before.
More to the point, we've made no secret of our opinion that the first GitS movie has aged horribly (despite it's indisputable importance), and having this lady in the role would make us actually want to revisit that story. Hopefully, this will draw more from the superior STAND ALONE COMPLEX TV series follow-up, though.
But what do you Vicers think of this, though?
