Once again we return to the Anime Vice RPG News Blogs… as I’m currently bloggin’ on my own blog (mostly in Spanish) I might not be able to do it weekly as I used to do this sort of things, but I’ll try my best to make one or two per month.
Even if I didn’t make more of these blogs that doesn’t mean that the RPG Community has been idle. We expanded our ranks, welcoming users LordNox, EvilMegaCookie and Vember officially to our ranks and we also enhanced the infrastructure of the Forum.
How so? By creating new blogs to help new and old players to access to more information and useful links and keeping already done blogs updated.
First we have the Welcome to the RPG Blog that has all the information a new player would need to join up as well some useful tips and advices. It was a collaboration of all the veteran players sharing their experience with newcomers.
We also created a Character Creation Guide, to help out on new and old players alike to make better characters. Once again it was a joint effort by the Active(*1) RPG players and has many segments built to assist in the creation of cool and interesting characters.
Another project was the Characters Index, that alphabetically organizes every active character and also showcase which player controls which characters, allowing better communication in the forum and easier access to Character Bios.
Finally as stated earlier we kept the Canon Thread, a comprehensive guide of every in-universe event that affected the RPG section updated with all the threads that happened. We reached more than 1 year of uninterrupted activity and we wish to continue this trend.
We also got a new Moderator for the Forum, the user Vapovile, as he has not only showcased excellent skills at RPGing but also has turned into the voice of our forum and the one who mediates between any conflict, for having an Active Mod that understand the RPG section we are grateful.
We haves many awesome stories currently in play, and many more to come; here is a small sample of the current stories.
The Tokyo Interview (By Kuma_From_Argentina): The JHWAB (Japanese Hidden World Affairs Bureau) is an organization that deals with superhuman threats in Japan and keeps the Hidden World (*2) (Magic, Ki, Aliens, etc) separated from the Mundane World. The JHWAB is holding interviews for new superhumans, as they keep a register of sorts.
Join Ji’tal, the Warrior from the Stars (LordNox), Maya Verity, the Avatar of Nothingness (EvilMegaCookie), Vyc Terrarum, the Altered Human (Vember), Shin, the Sword of the Mizakura (Waybig1010101), Katsuo Takashi, the Wandering Swordsman (Chronowolf) and his weapon Shi no Kaze, the Living Blade (Justalittlegirl) through this examination and learn about the JHWAB and the world.
When Life Gives You Lemon Lords (by Samjaz): A follow up to Rise of the Melon Lord, a group of heroic and not so heroic characters of the Viceverse travel to a small village in Turkey, in said town there is a well that started to give Lemonade instead of Water.
This mystery takes them there were they will have to wage battle against the Nefarious Lemon Lord, one of the fruit Lords and defeat him and his equally sinister underlings.
Anything you can do (by Justalittlegirl and Waybig1010101): A Closed Thread (*3) in which the Master of Games (Justalittlegirl) and the Spirit of Unbalance (Waybig1010101) decide to bet about their jobs, exchanging their responsibilities for one day to see who can do them better.
Waybig1010101
A relatively newcomer to the forum, Waybig already showcases great promise and awesome skills. He has a very varied cast of characters and slowly yet steadily he has started to shine in several threads.
§ When did you start to play in the RP section?
I believe started playing back in the summer of last year (2014), and what really got me interested in playing in the RPG threads was an article that I saw on the front page from the RPG community. After reading the article, I went ahead and starting reading the RPG that the article was about, and from there I gradually got more invested into the the idea of RPGing myself. At some point, maybe a few weeks after I read the article, I created my first character Chase, and joined my first RPG threads a few days later.
§ What are your favorite types of characters to play?
Well, I don't really have a favorite character type to be honest. I find myself enjoying RPGing with my own characters equally, regardless of their type. Leora for example, was a concept I wanted to do, where I would just create a "Support Character", in that she was not meant to not deal damage, but rather just support the other characters for the most part. But, the one of the most rewarding characters to play, is probably a character like Leora, because she is so fundamentally different than most of the other RPG characters here, that when playing her, its a challenge in of itself. Yet, that doesn't mean I like Leora's character type more so than any other of my characters.
§ Which was your favorite thread and why?
Well my favorite thread is probably my first thread, Lemon Lords. Just because it was really fun learning how to RPG in that thread, along with getting to know users and characters alike at the same time as well. Plus it’s my first one, so it’s going to have a special place in my RPG history. I'm hoping that I can experience a thread that will replace Lemon Lords one day with everyone.
§ From your own cast of characters. Which is your favorite?
From my own cast of characters, I would have to say that Chase, Leora, and Smith are my most used characters, but again I really don't have a favorite. I want to be able to work on every character as much as possible, but that is pretty difficult to do. I usually tend to focus on Chase the most, which is followed by Smith or Leora, then my other characters. The reason why I am able, or rather why I use Chase the most, is probably because I have a well developed vision for his story already, which makes it easier to write about him then the others, yet this again does not mean that I like Chase more than any other of my characters.
§ From your fellow players which is your favorite character?
Now, that is a hard one. I could list a bunch of great characters, such as Crow, Arthur, the Huntsman, Haruko, Hal, SamJaz, Callis, and the list goes on and on. Also, we got a good amount go people joining our community recently with their own great ideas and styles, which means that their characters will eventually become my favorite as well over time with the other great characters we have here.
Cast of Characters
Chase
Is a soulless man, who has to survive by using the souls of others, and is force to survival by ending the lives of others. He may enjoy spilling blood and drinking, but he is a careful man, who tries to avoid too much trouble. He also has a deep hatred for other human beings, but surprising enough he doesn't mind the company of "monsters" as much. Two of his favorite things is drinking, and spending some with animals, especially if they are strays. Chase has no idea who is really is as he has no memory of his life, yet he knows that he doesn't seem to be aging at the rate of others, and so believes that his powers are the cause of his agelessness, along with his memory lost. Chase's goal is to survive forts then find out about his past along the way.
Leora
Is a kindhearted person, who wouldn't even hurt a fly. She is very straightforward going, yet lacks confidence when it comes to her ability to contribute to certain situations, but doesn't let that stop her from doing her best. She always tries to see the good in people, and continues to make an effort to make the world a better place for the sake of others, rather than for herself. She is not blind to the evil of the world, but she refuses to let evil continue to cause suffering and problems to others when she can help prevent it. Leora enjoys doing what she does, to the point that she really every does any other activity outside of benefiting the well being of another person, which is amazing considering her troubling past. Her drive, personality, and pureness eventually was acknowledged by Compassions, and Leora now serves as the vessel of Compassion. With her new found abilities, Leora has become more efficient and successful when it comes to accomplish her goal of assisting others in need.
Marvel Smith
Was born with everything that I person could have dreamed of, but sadly lost it all due to his family standards. Considered a failure by his father for not being able to ue traditional magic, or even use magic, he was disowned. Yet, Smith was not letting that stop him from achieving his own success and greatness. He continues to use both his talent and hard work to earn him both respect and wealth. Now, Smith has become one of the richest people in the world, along with being a genius inventor. Smith uses his wealth and talent to also help others, and improve the world around him. Smith is very kindhearted, yet sadly doesn't tend to show to make emotions. Smith continues to use his gifts and wealth to pursuit new goals for himself, and for humanity. Smith goal is to take humanity to the next level with the use of technology and magic, and to hopefully protect and even improve the situation between the public world and the hidden world
