Got a rice cooker? Then you can make some tasty pancakes too!

The rice cooker is an appliance that you see pretty often in anime and dramas. Considering how important rice is in the general Japanese diet, that shouldn't be a surprise. What is surprising are the various other things you can do with a rice cooker. I remember an episode of Yakitate!! Japan that had a recipe to make bread in your standard rice cooker.

In that same vein, this dude named Matome Navar posted a quick tutorial on how to make pancakes with a standard cooker of rice. It's as easy mixing everything together in the cooker's pot and letting it work it's magic for roughly 45 minutes. Even better, you can mix it all together at night, set the cooker to low heat and wake up to a tasty breakfast. Navar posted some variations, where other rice cookers tossed in additional ingredients like chocolate chips and bananas. Yum!

This seems at about the right effort level for my life. If I can just toss some ingredients together, leave it alone for a couple of hours and have something tasty appear, then I'm a happy camper. I can only imagine what else you can make with a rice cooker besides, you know, rice.
