A Daily Dose of Music: Owl City featuring SEKAI NO OWARI

It takes a lot to surprise me nowadays, but I was truly shocked when my friend sent me this one. The Minnesota based indie rock band, Owl City has teamed up with Japan's SEKAI NO OWARI on their newest song, aptly named Tokyo. I never really got into Owl City as they sounded a bit too much like a watered down version of The Postal Service, but when their songs came on the radio I never really tuned out.

This new track is not too bad. It's still way too Ben Gibbard-y from my tastes, but Fukase's added vocals make the track a bit more charming. At the very least it's nice to see the Tokyo rock band get some recogniztion. I just wish they didn't have the Asian sounding synth lines added in there, just kind of cheapens the whole thing. Gong!
