The Dose: Yui Horie

Wednesday usually means that we're all hitting a bit of a lull in our work week. Staring like zombies at your computer screens, stamping off TPS reports. In these cases we need something extra sugary, with that special caffeine kick! Superstar idol Yui Horie has those bases covered, with a treat that will surely get your attention.

The ultra talented seiyu, actor, and singer presents her newest single, The♡Worlds♡End, which is loaded like a Starbuck's Frappuccino. Yui's voice is impossibly squeaky in this one, it almost sounds like a normal record sped up, kind of like those old Alvin and The Chipmunks songs. It's a fun song, but I'll just never get used to her voice when she starts chirping off lyrics quickly. She sounds great in her melodic singing parts, but when she starts kawaii rapping, I just can't keep it together.

The track is featured at the opening to Golden Time, which actually fits quite nicely. The show's quirky energy is nicely represented here, but I don't know how the song would hold up if it weren't an anime opening. Did this track give you the wake up you needed? Or, did you end up slightly confused about your emotions as I did?
