A Daily Dose of Anime Openings: 80's Week

Alright kids, time to load up on the hairspray, neon bracelets, and your favorite denim jacket. We are going back to the 80's! Being a child of the 80's the anime of the time left a huge impression on me, that I really didn't even recognize until much later in my fandom. This week your favorite Japanator Editors give you a peak into some of their favorite anime openings that have been building blocks to their current obsession. If you aren't ready for an intense trip down memory lane, you may want to avoid this post.

Salvador G-Rodiles - Combat Mecha Xabungle - Gale Xabungle - Akira Kushida

"When it comes to fun 70/80s anime openings, I believe that Gale Xabungle deserves to be on the list. From the show's cartoony style to the Wild West-like setting, it's hard to not have a good time with Combat Mecha Xabungle-- unless if you're not into mecha anime. Even though Xabungle's opening doesn't feature any amazing visuals, I felt that Akira Kushida's singing makes up for the video's scenes, as his voice gave off an enthusiastic vibe during each verse.

Despite my praise Xabungle's theme, I actually watched the show's opening before I jumped on the series, since I have a weird habit of previewing anime series through their intro themes. While I didn't get to finish Xabungle, "Gale Xabungle" continues to remind of the fun experience that I'll get to have when I return to the show again. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy saying "Xabungle," since it's a very fun word to say."
