ONE PIECE Ch. 755 Review

What does it say about me that I'm excited to see the offensive abilities of the Nipple Lights?

Franky has broken into the SMILE Factory at last, with the assistance of the Tontattas locked inside. However, Senor Pink isn't about to let the Straw Hat cyborg destroy the factory with out a man-sized challenge.

The Good

Wow, I didn't expect Zoro to be rivaled in machismo by these guys.

Mark this one up in yet another of the series of "Oda, what did you just make me read?" moments. It's hard to put into words just what occurred here. The headline image for this review sums it up all too well. This is an astonishingly manic chapter, but manic in the best way possible.

The star of the show is easily the conflict between Franky and Senor Pink. I never really figured these two would be so well matched in personality. It's a totally absurd kinship that works. When you're in the middle of all this, it feels as if you're watching a firework show. However, take a few steps back and look at this situation from the distance. You'd be wondering what the hell is going on. Oda has just found a method of leading the audience through his world that is forever entertaining but baffling to anyone who's not already waist deep into it all. Yet another comparison to professional wrestling.

Comedy done right.
Comedy done right.

They may not be headliners, but I do think the Tontattas deserve an honorable mention for their work in this chapter. Their gullible and trusting nature makes for some great moments that never cease to get a chuckle out of me. Take for instance the time they plugged their hears to avoid the bad guys lies, but now they can no longer hear their orders. The comedic timing of it all is just as good as any gag from a Mel Brooks or Monty Phython film.

The Bad

I can't really find much to be wrong with this chapter, but that's not to say it's a perfect issue. People are going to find things they like and dislike about this one, but I think anyone you'd ask came out of this with a positive feeling.

Verdict 4/5

Among the category of things I want to see in this arc, you can add the Franky vs. Senor Pink fight to the ever growing list. I would have thought that being over a year into this arc would make me count the weeks till its end, but there's still so much more I want to see happen. Not that I want this to go on as long as the Fourth Shinobi World War Arc, but I don't really mind letting this coast on for a while longer either. Just as long as I'm enjoying plenty of the kind of action and laughs that can be found in this chapter.
