Make some egg... pudding?

After watching a bunch of British TV show on the BBC I became a bit confused to what pudding is. Growing up, it was always that delicious milky stuff that Bill Cosby was hustling to kids. You'd find it in chocolate or vanilla, and in awesome little plastic cups that were just big enough to make you want to eat two. In Europe though, it seems that puddings were sometimes savory and often bread based, not quite the after school snack I grew up with.

In Japan pudding has also been quite well defined as a eggy, flan-like custard. Strong vanilla taste with a delicious caramel topping.Well, this new ad for Okashina Tamago Mawashite Mawashite Marugoto Purin has me all confused again. The contraption made by Takara Tomy basically has you scramble the heck out of an egg while it's still in the shell, and has a really catchy theme song. It also looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

However, I can't see myself pouring caramel sauce over scrambled eggs. Somehow the results of the product look more like pudding than scrambled eggs, so I must be missing something in my culinary education. So yes, I kind of want to try one of these out.

If someone gets their hands on this contraption on its release date September 25th before I do, please report back!
