Animator Expo's second short focuses on riding bicycles

Now that Japan Animator Expo has uploaded its second anime short, it seems that the project has yet to create a solid piece. While Hill Climb Girl gave us a simple premise about bicycle racing that evolved into a love story, I felt that Azuma Tani's (Thermae Romae, Haiyoru! Nyaruani) animation lacked the right ingredients to turn this tale into a fun ride. At least the 3D models were nicely made, since they almost felt 2D in most of the short's scene. Also, Hinako's expressions were great when she shows her determination to beat her friend.

Despite, Animator Expo's decent run, I'm still hoping for the other shorts to be better, since we've only seen two out of the thirty possible creations to come out of this project. If not, then we can look forward to appreciating the visuals that each animation team'll bring to the table. In other words, things haven't gone downhill for Japan Animator Expo just yet.

As they say: Third time's a charm; therefore, the next short might impress us with its story this time around.
