Feel the charm of Studio Ghibli's When Marnie was There

There's a lot of whispers going around about the upcoming animated film, When Marnie was There. The movie is the famed animation house Studio Ghibli's first film without any involvement from founders Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki. Needless to say, fans are understandably worried about the quality of the film, and if the studio can continue without its infamous founder.

When Marnie was There is set to hit theaters in two weeks, but information and trailers have been scarce, highlighting rumors of problems and quality control. However, after watching the preview for the Hiromasa Yonebayashi film, I can say that I'm personally already charmed. The Secret World of Arrietty director has taken on the huge task of adapting the classic British children's novel, knowing very well the future of Studio Ghibli may rest on him.

While I would never say there might ever be an anime talent like Miyazaki, perhaps Ghibli can continue on in some fashion and be successful. I guess only time will tell, and wether or not you believe Miyazaki will stayed retired this time will effect your outlook. Personally, I can't wait to see this one.
