Women are incredibly under represented in hip-hop in Japan, so it's always refreshing when new players step into the game. Today I introduce to you self proclaimed "rap idols" Rhymeberry. Their new track, IDOL ILLMATIC is actually their fifth single, but this is actually the first time I've had a chance to give them a listen.
The track is kind of interesting. The ladies to have some pretty sick rhymes and flows, but the beats themselves are right out of something like Jet Set Radio. I'm just not a fan of these wild 90's funk beats. They should stay in games like Beatmania. It adds to a bit of the charm of the video, but I can't help but feel that these lades could be doing something amazing with the right production behind them. Let's see how this plays out.
