Not all is as it seems when you're dealing with the Zero Squad of the Reiokyu. Yhwach's Royal Guard are quickly learning the folly of their arrogance.
The Good
Back near the end of WWII and just before the invasions on D-Day, the allied forces brainstormed over how to hide the location of their initial invasion. They didn't want German forces to be coalesce in any one area, but at the same time force them to spread the Nazi army out. One of the tactics that was used was they created a slew of inflatable fake tanks that would distract the attention of air surveillance. It may sound ridiculous that anyone could be fooled by that, but it's completely true. Go look it up. The detail on those fakes was impressive.
That's the same sort of impression that I got from reading this chapter and seeing how the Zero Squad were defending the Reiokyu. Although, with a touch that would even impress one Wile E. Coyote. The biggest difference is that the Vandenreich fell for the trap.
It never seemed right that these elite troops would be caught so off balance by Yhwach's arrival, and Senjumaru's apparent death seemed way too easy in last week's chapter. I love seeing that these characters are just so on the ball.
The Bad
The chapter suffers from what could be considered a series wide issue when it comes to BLEACH . The folly of over explaining details to the enemy. I understand that Senjumaru was acting out of a sense of confidence in their victory, since the trap cage was already ready to spring. However, did she actually have to go so far as to reveal where the real Reiokyu is located, sealed or not? Leave them guessing about some things.
Verdict 3/5
This was a pretty decent chapter that really redeemed my faith in the Zero Squad's abilities. You now start to understand why these characters were chosen to protect this realm. It gets even more exciting as they're now set to go on the offensive. Since the magic trick behind their defense has been revealed. Ever since Nimaiya was revealed to be the creator of the zanpakuto, I've wanted to see how he fights. Now, we might just get to see him in action next week. That's pretty exciting.
