No matter how many times I hear Goku's voice actress, she never stops sounding atrociously distracting. Look, she was perfectly appropriate when the character was a scrappy little scamp. That is simply not the case anymore, though. And that is definitely not the voice that should be coming out of a grown ass, muscle-bound man's mouth.
And while we're griping about things that aren't appropriate to DBZ... super-clean animation with digital shading and color gradients really doesn't fit the feel of the series, either. Thankfully, the crew has let go of those awful 3D puppets from BATTLE OF GODS, but the shots of the army of Frieza's psuedo-Saiyan minions makes me think of the computer-assisted crowd shots in THE SIMPSONS. The layering is so obvious, so discrete, that your eyes almost instinctively look for the Photoshop toolbar.

Anyway, if you haven't surmised, this is the latest (and presumably final) Japanese trailer of the next DRAGON BALL Z movie. And on the positive side... FRIEZA! FRIEZEA! FRIEZA! FRIEEEZZZAAA!
This new metal theme is 9000X more rawking than the last movie's “Cha-La Head Cha-La” cover. And there are oodles of interesting little tidbits sprinkled throughout this 80-second clip. Most importantly, it looks like Frieza will be transforming into a new, golden form to be on level with Goku's Super Saiyan God abilities. More interestingly, Toriyama's latest creation, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, will be making an appearance.

The movie's coming out in a couple weeks in Japan. Who knows when it'll be coming stateside. I'm sure some of you will be wishing it into your rooms after... ahem... gathering the Dragon Balls, but presuming you have the patience, has this new trailer made the wait that much tantalizing? Or would you have still preferred that Frieza stay dead and buried?
