Yuma Asami, one of Japan's better-known adult video actresses, is spilling her secrets in a book titled Restart: Believe in Yourself. The book, set to hit Japanese shelves on May 8, details some of the reasons Asami took the plunge into the world of adult video, family secrets, and most importantly detailing her fight against ovarian cancer.
While people will likely flock to the book because of the sultry details of the AV world, Asami's story about ovarian cancer will be what keeps them hooked.
In January of last year, Asami (26 at the time) suffered from stomach problems, which shortly revealed she had ovarian cancer. She went through surgery, removing her uterus and ovaries, and another six treatments to deal with the cancer. She's recovered and is working as a gravure idol (no intercourse) since last fall.
It'll be interesting to see how the book fares on the charts, but I'm sure it'll be a good tool in the conversation about cancer.
