Sci-fi anime Knights of Sidonia is already set for a Blu-ray release in Japan on May 28. While the disc will contain only the first two episodes, it's going to be packing additional angles fo certain scenes. Because it's digitally animated, each Blu-ray volume will have the ability to include about 20 extra scenes shot from different angles than you'll see in the TV broadcast.
I haven't been reading or watching Knights of Sidonia, but I'm on the fence as to whether I will watch the anime or not. See, there's this thing with CG visuals that I just can't get past, and Knights has it in droves. It looks awful, honestly, and I would have vastly preferred traditional animation if I were to give it a try. Like Arpeggio of Blue Steel before it, I'm probably going to pass.
The limited edition of the first volume will run you 6,234 yen ($61) and is available for preorder right now at the Japanese Amazon storefront. Has anyone been following Knights of Sidonia thus far? What do you think about these additional scenes?
