We've seen some pretty interesting examples of Mobile Suit Gundam-branded clothing in the past, but this one collaboration that piqued my interest on several different levels. Reebok is releasing two special versions of their Instapump Fury sneakers in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan branded with the colors and markings of either the RX-78-2 or Char's Zaku. It's not just the shoe either. The box is also designed to look like a gunpla box, adding to the whole toy robot aesthetic.
Detailed photos of the shoes show some nice attention to detail. The way the RX-78-2's colors are applied across the shoe's design makes it look bright and attractive, like the suit that it's based off of. On the other hand, Char's shoe looks dark and moody, with all blacks and reds. The space print used on main part of the shoe looks pretty great against those dark colors.
If you just so happen to live in the few areas that will have these available, they'll set you back 1499 Hong Kong Dollars, which is about $200 USD. Ouch. I'm not a sneakerhead, so I'm not used to dropping a lot of cash on a pair of kicks. I suppose if your passion for shoes and robots align in some way, these might be up your alley. Personally, I'll just look at the pics and smile.
