To promote SAO season 2, Sword Art Online II, which is due out this summer, Aniplex of America is hosting a premiere screening of the first episode at Anime Expo on July 4th. It predates the screening on Japanese TV on July 5th by a few hours. While details of the stream is to be finalized later, Crunchyroll will simulcast the TV series proper after the premiere. Aniplex confirmed the French announcement on the same day at Anime Central.
Along with the Anime Expo premiere, Aniplex is bringing over the light novel author and creator Reki Kawahara and original character illustrator abec to AX. The pair will participate in the usual con events such as signings and panels. The SAO2 festivities is not just limited to the US too; the lucky folks at France's Japan Expo will get the first taste of SAO2, and premiere events in Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea will also happen that day along with, of course, events in Japan.
